Fox on Film

A very popular contributor to the festival, Ken Fox of Canterbury Christ Church University brings his fascinating view on how Donegal has been portrayed on film down the years.Portrayal of the county tends to concentrate on mountains, valleys, lakes and rivers and the magnificent vistas of the Atlantic Ocean beating on the rugged coastline.

Ken will offer a fascinating look at how these representations of the landscape overlap and merge with the human made elements of the county , such as the border , tourists and our troubled past.It is this , what he terms “magic primitivism” that makes Donegal such an attraction for film makers .Ken’s talks are always enlightening and never less than entertaining. Not to be missed.

Tamara Colonna

Tamara Colonna is a talented singer/songwriter from Jacksonville, FL. She tells us...

"... William Allingham and his work made a huge impression on me; therefore, I was inspired to write a song about him. In it, I tried to capture the essence of his magic through his connection with nature."

Tamara very kindly shared with us a copy of her CD which we intend to play at various events during the Festival.

If you can't wait that long to hear her song 'Allingham' you'll find it on YouTube

Thank you, Tamara for this 200th birthday gift to us and to Allingham. We hope one day you'll be able to visit us at the festival.

Joe wraps you up in the warmth of his words, bringing a smile to your face, stretching credulity, moving your heart and leaving you feeling that all is well in the world. Joe has been telling stories throughout Ireland, and abroad, to people of all ages for over 24 years. He has performed in schools, libraries, community settings, arts centres, theatres and in hospitals. We are delighted that Joe will make his Allingham Festival debut on Thursday/Friday November 7th - 8th, when he will entertain and delight the Primary School children of Ballyshannon as he visits all the schools in the area.
